Lacros is easier to judge once you know where it came from. The company spent around two decades making frames and components for European e-bike brands before selling under its own name, reached Dutch retail in the early 2010s, and has sold into the US since 2021. That order matters — the range reads like a component maker's: a few well-specified platforms rather than a catalog refreshed every season.

There are three lines, and choosing between them saves more than any promotion will. Cyclone is the urban commuter, Thunder the full-suspension mountain bike, and Pinecone the lightweight folder for people who carry a bike up stairs or into a trunk. Complete bikes ran from about $599 to $1,999 at the time of writing, with accessories — spare batteries, chargers, helmets, cargo racks — from roughly $19 to $699. Buying the mountain platform for a flat commute is a bigger overspend than a sale price recovers.

Two things to check before ordering. Lacros states its bikes are UL certified; confirm that on the specific product page, because a growing number of US apartment buildings and insurers now ask for it on e-bike batteries. And price the spare battery at the same time as the bike — the battery is the expensive wearing part, and it decides what the bike costs you three or four years out.
